Gransolar got in the South African market in 2011, to take part in the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP). The Programme, which forms part of the government’s “Integrated Resource Plan for Electricity 2010-2030” lays out the roadmap for the installation of almost 18GW of renewable energy production, including 8,400MW of photovoltaic capacity, and is one of the most ambitious programmes in operation globally.

Gransolar-solar PV power plants-South AfricaThe company was awarded the EPC and O&M contracts for two 75MWp photovoltaic installations in the Free State and Northern Cape provinces, because it was successful in the first round of the REIPPPP programme .Gransolar currently works in both facilities in conjunction with its consortium partners .

Building on the success in the REIPPP Programme Gransolar has fully committed to establishing and developing its presence in the South African and Southern African markets. In 2012 Gransolar joined forces with experienced local business development specialists Mistico Trading (Pty) Ltd to incorporate, Gransolar (Pty) Ltd.

Mistico Trading (Pty) Ltd is a 100% black owned investment holding company founded by a group of professionals and entrepreneurs. Mistico’s business principal and strategy is broad value creation and operational involvement in sectors where the key partners can add value.

Drawing on its founders’ international experience in providing photovoltaic services combined with their knowledge of the specific requirements of the South African market, Gransolar (Pty) Ltd.’s aim is to become the number one company in South Africa in the photovoltaic sector.
