Wellington North Solar Farm, one of the large PV plants that GRS is building for Lightsource bp in Australia, has obtained provisional acceptance (PAC). With 425 MW of installed capacity, it is one of the largest PV projects in the country and represents a new milestone for GRS in the area, where it has a portfolio of almost 2.1 GW in a total of 14 projects. Lightsource bp, meanwhile, is the largest owner of PV assets in Australia, with a total of 841 MW.

Wellington North Solar Farm will produce clean energy equivalent to the consumption of more than 152,500 households through more than 755,000 photovoltaic modules distributed over 847 hectares. Other Gransolar Group business lines have participated in its construction, such as PV Hardware (PVH), which has supplied the Axon Duo solar trackers and the latest generation controllers, and GRS O&M, which will take on the operation and maintenance tasks to maximize the plant’s performance.

A successful partnership

In addition to Wellington North, GRS and Lightsource bp are currently collaborating on other projects, such as the construction of the Wunghnu photovoltaic plant (90 MW), located in the Goulburn Valley (Victoria). This alliance is strengthened by the fact that both companies share the goal of promoting renewable energy in the area.

José Miguel Plaza, Managing Director of the Gransolar Group in Australia, stated that the project was a milestone for the company. “We are pleased to have had the opportunity to participate in a project of the magnitude of Wellington North Solar Farm. Building one of the largest photovoltaic plants in Australia is a challenge that helps us to test our capabilities and the enormous capacity of our team to excel. We would like to thank Lightsource bp for their confidence,” he says.
